On Sunday (June 5, 2022), the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Indonesia (FFUI) held a Virtual Open House for the FFUI Postgraduate Study Program via the Zoom Meeting platform. The speaker at this event was Dr. apt. Herman Suryadi, MS., Head of the FFUI Postgraduate Study Program. The event was moderated by apt. Meidi Utami P., S.Farm., M.Sc., Ph.D. (FFUI Student Affairs Coordinator).
The Virtual Open House for the FFUI Postgraduate Study Program (Prodi) primarily discussed the Master's in Herbal Medicine (A-Accredited), Master's in Pharmaceutical Science (A-Accredited), and Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Science (Unggul Accredited) in depth. The event covered admission pathways, registration process, curriculum, and tuition fees. The event also explained the various specializations available in the FFUI Postgraduate Study Program.
The event began at 10:00 a.m. with an opening by the moderator, followed by remarks by Dr. apt. Fadlina Chany Saputri, M.Si., the Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs at FFUI. The event then continued with a presentation session. The topics discussed at this event were generally divided into two, namely the Masters Program (S2) and Doctoral Program (S3) at FFUI.
The FFUI Master's Program consists of a Master's in Herbal Medicine and a Master's in Pharmaceutical Science with a two-year study period. The minimum Semester Credit Unit (SKS) required for the FFUI Master's Program curriculum is 40 credits. Graduates of the FFUI Master's Program in Herbal Medicine are expected to be able to utilize and develop innovative and tested herbal products, recommend solutions to health problems with herbal products, and manage research related to raw materials and herbal products that are beneficial to society and science. Courses that must be taken in the study pathway consist of compulsory courses (70%) and free elective courses (30%), while the research pathway consists only of compulsory courses (100%).
On the other hand, graduates of the Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MSP) at FFUI are expected to be able to develop pharmaceutical science, manage pharmaceutical research, and solve pharmaceutical problems according to their chosen field of interest. Areas of interest in the Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences study program include pharmaceutical technology, pharmaceutical chemistry, biotechnology-pharmaceutical biology, pharmacology-toxicology, and clinical pharmacy. Courses required for the study pathway consist of compulsory courses (45%), elective courses (35%), and free elective courses (20%), while the research pathway consists only of compulsory courses (100%).
The FFUI Doctoral Program is scheduled for six semesters, but can be completed in a minimum of four semesters and a maximum of ten semesters. The FFUI Doctoral Program curriculum consists of 42 credits for both the lecture and research pathways, as well as the research pathway. The student admission process consists of contacting prospective promoters, obtaining recommendations from promoters, registering for SIMAK UI, and taking the entrance exam.
After the presentations concluded, the event continued with a question-and-answer session moderated by a moderator. Several participants actively asked questions during this session. At the end of the event, there was a Kahoot game session where the winners received door prizes.
