Depok, July 14, 2026 – Dr. Eng. apt. Ayun Erwina Arifianti, M.Farm., a lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Indonesia (FFUI) and a Member of the FFUI Cosmetics and Supplements Research Cluster, represented the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, UI, in attending the 2026 Cosmetics Supervision Intensification Press Conference held by the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the BPOM Red and White Building Auditorium, Central Jakarta. This activity was also attended online via Zoom Meeting and led by the Head of BPOM.
Dr. Ayun's presence represents the UI Faculty of Pharmacy's commitment to supporting various efforts to strengthen cosmetic oversight in Indonesia, while also strengthening the synergy between universities and regulators in promoting the safety, quality, and public protection of cosmetic products in circulation.
The press conference, organized by the Deputy for Supervision of Traditional Medicines, Health Supplements, and Cosmetics at the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM), aimed to convey the results of the 2026 Cosmetics Supervision Intensification to the public. The agenda included a presentation of the supervision results by the Head of BPOM, a question-and-answer session with the media, a demonstration of products resulting from the supervision intensification, and doorstop interviews with the media.
The event was attended by various stakeholders from ministries, government agencies, professional organizations, industry associations, consumer protection organizations, and academics. The Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Indonesia, was one of the higher education institutions specifically invited to participate in the forum, along with various other strategic partners.
As a member of the Cosmetics and Supplements Research Cluster, Dr. Ayun believes forums like this have strategic value in strengthening collaboration between academics, regulators, and industry. He believes the monitoring results submitted by BPOM can provide important input for developing research in the cosmetics sector, particularly in aspects of raw material safety, product quality, and consumer protection.
"Collaboration between regulators, academics, and industry is a crucial foundation for building a safe and high-quality cosmetics ecosystem. The information provided by BPOM through this activity not only improves our understanding of the dynamics of cosmetics supervision in Indonesia but also serves as a reference for us in developing research relevant to public needs and regulatory developments," said Dr. Ayun.
The UI Faculty of Pharmacy's participation in this activity aligns with the faculty's commitment to continuously support the development of science and innovation in the cosmetics sector through collaboration with various stakeholders. Through the active involvement of faculty in national forums like this, FFUI hopes to continue contributing to strengthening a safe, high-quality, and competitive cosmetics ecosystem, while also supporting public health protection through a science-based approach.
