The Master of Pharmaceutical Science Study Program of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Indonesia was held starting in September 2001 and was strengthened by the Decree of the Director General of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia, No. 2286/D/T/2001 dated July 4, 2001.
Pharmaceutical science and technology are developing rapidly, both in service to the public and industry, as well as in the discovery of new drugs containing both synthetic and natural active ingredients. Modern society demands high-quality pharmaceutical products that contribute to improving health, particularly those with high economic value.
The pharmaceutical industry is required not only to manufacture drug formulations but also to discover new active molecules that are highly beneficial to health. The pharmaceutical industry, as a research-based industry, is crucial both in terms of improving healthcare quality and for the economy and resilience of a nation. Pharmaceutical services, as part of healthcare, have also undergone significant changes in line with scientific developments, from a drug-oriented paradigm to a patient-oriented one.
To anticipate the above, the Master of Pharmaceutical Science Program has prepared 5 areas of interest for students, namely: interest in pharmaceutical technology, interest in pharmaceutical chemistry/medicinal chemistry, interest in pharmaceutical biology, interest in clinical pharmacy and pharmaceutical services.
Graduates of the Master of Pharmaceutical Science Program are expected to be able to contribute ideas and address health problems that arise in society, especially those related to drugs and food, as well as pharmaceutical services.
Since the program opened in 2001, it has produced graduates who work in research institutions, educational institutions, government agencies, hospitals, and other pharmaceutical services in accordance with their fields of expertise.
