The department, which was originally located on Jl. Diponegoro, Central Jakarta, was incorporated into a faculty that was initially named the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences (FIPIA), which was then changed to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) based on Presidential Decree No. 44 of 1982.

The Pharmacy Department is located behind the Faculty of Economics, UI, Jl. Salemba Raya No. 4, Central Jakarta.

Occupying the building behind the UI Rectorate Building on Jl. Salemba Raya No. 4, Central Jakarta. In 1987, the Pharmacy Department occupied Building D, FMIPA UI, along with the Mathematics Department at the New Campus of the University of Indonesia, Depok.

Occupying building D, the Department of Pharmacy's administrative activities were centered in Building C, FMIPA UI. Upon its move to Depok in 1987, the Department of Pharmacy only managed the Undergraduate Program (S1) and the Pharmacist Program, with approximately 200 students and 30 lecturers.

Based on the Decision of the Board of Trustees (MWA) of the University of Indonesia No. 01/SK/MWA-UI/2003, concerning ART-UI, the Department of Pharmacy, FMIPA UI has had its name adjusted to become the Department of Pharmacy, FMIPA UI.

Decree of the Chancellor of the University of Indonesia No. 2408A/SK/R/2011, concerning the Opening of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Indonesia, the Department of Pharmacy, FMIPA UI, changed to the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Indonesia (FF UI).
