Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (M.Sc.)
Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (M.Sc.)
List of Supervisors for the Master’s Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences
Program Secretariat
Pharmaceutical science and technology is increasingly developing rapidly, both oriented towards services to society, industry, and in the discovery of new drugs containing synthetic efficacious substances and those derived from natural ingredients. The pharmaceutical industry is required not only to carry out drug formulation manufacturing activities, but also to discover new active molecules that are very useful for health and have high economic value.
Likewise in the field of pharmaceutical services, pharmaceutical health workers are required to be able to collaborate with other health workers, and maximize their role in detecting, preventing and resolving drug-related problems so that rational treatment can be achieved. It is hoped that the presence of the Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences will be able to respond to the rapid developments and demands in the pharmaceutical field.
The Master of Pharmacy Science Program at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Indonesia was held starting in September 2001 and was strengthened by the Decree of the Chancellor of the Directorate General of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia No. 2286/D/T/2001 dated 4 July 2001.
The pharmaceutical industry is required not only to conduct drug formulation manufacturing activities but also to discover new active molecules that are highly beneficial for health. As a research-based industry, the pharmaceutical sector plays a crucial role, both in improving the quality of public health and in strengthening a nation’s economic resilience and competitiveness. Pharmaceutical services, which are an integral part of healthcare services, have also undergone significant transformation in line with the advancement of scientific knowledge—from a drug-oriented paradigm to a patient-oriented paradigm.
To anticipate these developments, the Master’s Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences provides five areas of specialization for students: Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry / Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Biology, Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Care and Services
Graduates of the Master’s Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences are expected to contribute ideas and solutions to health-related problems in society, particularly those related to drugs, food, and pharmaceutical services. Since the program was established in 2001, it has produced graduates who work in research institutions, educational institutions, government agencies, hospitals, and other pharmaceutical service sectors in accordance with their areas of expertise.
